About Geddy Warner
Teacher & Performer

Geddy Warner is a Vocologist, singer, voice teacher, and researcher currently pursuing a PhD in Performance, Composition and Voice Research at New York University. Geddy is a graduate of the NYU Steinhardt Master of Music Program in Classical Vocal Performance with an additional Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy. He also received his Bachelors in Music from NYU and was the recipient of the Presser Scholar Award for Academic Achievement and Leadership.

As a pedagogue, Geddy has worked as both a Graduate Adjunct Voice Faculty Professor at NYU Steinhardt as well as maintained a large private voice studio from 2018 through the present and has been noted for his highly compassionate and innovative teaching style. Geddy has maintained a large studio of beginners through professionals teaching a range of styles which include Classical, Musical Theater, Pop, Jazz, RnB, Rock, and Metal among others. He has been noted to have "a warm and disarming presence" as well as "a thorough knowledge of how to help the voice grow" by both students and peers. Students of Geddy have sang in international tours, performed leading roles in off-broadway, regional, and collegiate shows, played regular solo and band performances nationally, and have been accepted to various collegiate programs.

Geddy has also gained notable vocal rehabilitation/habilitation training and experience as a Vocologist working with Laryngology and Speech Language Pathology teams at the NYU Langone Voice Center, the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice, the Columbia Center for Voice and Swallowing, the Mt. Sinai Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center, as well as other nationally recognized voice centers. In collaboration with voice care teams, Geddy has assisted in the improvement of the vocal qualities of many clients/patients with a wide array of vocal pathologies including muscle tension dysphonia, nodules, vocal fold scarring, vocal fold paresis, laryngotracheal reconstruction, and more.

His PhD studies are currently focused on the research of supraglottal phonation techniques with the desire to expand upon and create forms of communication should an individual lose partial or full use of their true vocal folds. Along with the voice team at the NYU Langone Voice Clinic, utilizing Geddy's research, protocols have been created and explored for teaching these method of phonation. These protocols have already found success in clinical practice giving some patients who had no discernible true vocal folds a newly functioning form of speech. Geddy previously presented these findings at the 2022 Fall Voice Conference in San Francisco.

Recently, Geddy's research has explored the use of vocal distortion and other extended techniques as habilitative and rehabilitative tools which has shown notable success in both studio and clinical practices. These findings have been presented at the 2024 ASHA convention in Seattle, the Pan American Vocology Association 2024 Symposium in Houston, the 2024 Fall Voice Conference in Phoenix, and the 2025 Voice Foundation Symposium in Philadelphia.
Finally, as an avid and well-versed performer, Geddy was also active in the operatic circuit both locally, and internationally. With a focus on text driven communication, Geddy has been afforded the opportunity to perform leading Tenor roles such as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance, Robert in Le fille du tambour major, and Le Chevalier in Dialogues of the Carmelites to name a few. In addition to his operatic career, Geddy is also an avid songwriter, creating a large output of music that covers many genres including, Alternative Rock, Soft Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Jazz, and Heavy Metal. Geddy was also a part of the 2022 Downbeat award winning NYU Pop/Rock ensemble and is also the recipient of the 2022 Downbeat Award for Outstanding Rock Soloist.
