About Joanna Hu

Teacher & Performer​

​

Originally from Taiwan, Joanna Hu received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from New York University. She is a singer, music educator, and professional voice teacher who provides voice lessons to students of all ages, skill levels, and musical genres. By combining artistic training with pedagogical expertise, she helps her students develop healthy, confident, and expressive voices.

She has extensive performance experience in musical theatre, classical, and contemporary commercial music. Notable highlights include performing the lead role of Hubba in the Off-Off-Broadway production Gayuranus (Alien Theater Company, 2013); being honored as a New Star by the Association of Vocal Artists of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and debuting at the National Taiwan Recital Hall (2014); and being named a semifinalist in the 15th Competizione dell’Operainternational competition in Linz, Austria (2015).

She has explored experimental voice and movement through collaborations with NeoSonance, a contemporary music ensemble, and Dr. Fancy, an electronic music band. She currently teaches private voice lessons at The Dalton School, where her students regularly perform in school musicals and productions.

Speech-Language Pathologist
​

Joanna Hu holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a New York State–licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. She provides voice therapy and rehabilitation to clients of all ages, skill levels, and diverse needs, integrating clinical expertise with artistic training to support healthy, confident, and expressive voices.

She completed her clinical training at New York Neurogenic Speech-Language Pathology, P.C., and the Mount Sinai West Grabscheid Voice and Swallowing Center, where she gained experience working with both pediatric and adult populations. She specializes in voice therapy for professional voice users, singers, and individuals with voice disorders.
